Kids Star at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center
Kids can dive into different movie genres and become the stars of their own blockbuster during “Action-Packed Summer” at the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center.
Each week children are invited to participate in activities related to different movie genres. Topics will range from Disney princesses to Jurassic Park dinosaurs. Be sure to catch spotlight performances, meet-and-greets and more! Check it out and mark your calendar.
Be Our Guest WonderWeek Now through July 23 Disney-themed activities will delight boys and girls as they create knight shields, crowns and tiaras. All of it leads up to a Princess Party, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 22, with Moana, Belle and Ariel.
Dino Daze WonderWeek July 26-30 Young paleontologists will go crazy for this Jurassic Park-themed week. Activities include making colorful dinosaur art, masks and puppets. There will be a Jurassic Extreme show, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 29, where kids can meet their scaly friends.
Summertime Aug. 2-6 Parents looking for a cool, indoors activity will appreciate this summer WonderWeek. Kids can make summer-themed art, stretchy toys and explore static electricity. Minions will be in the house for a meet and greet, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.
Sensory Friendly Day Aug. 8 Children with autism spectrum disorder and their families are invited to experience the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center with dimmed lights, limited extra sounds and no distracting motions during this private event.
And The Vibe Goes On Aug. 9-13 School may be on the horizon, but at the Discovery Center, the vacation goes on. Make a seashell mermaid crown and a wand. At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, magic happens with magician Jamie Salinas
Rockin' Trolls WonderWeek Aug. 16-20 It’s a week filled with color and hair. Kids can create their own physical song with yarn, put their hair up with a colorful hair prop and design a troll mask. Meet the trolls, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.
Just Chillin' WonderWeek July 23-27 Cool down and have some fun. Kids will create fire and ice drawings, craft ice crowns and choose either fire or ice as the theme for some crafty wings. Chill out with free ice cream and story time,11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
Farewell Summer WonderWeek Aug. 30-Sept. 3 Bid Summer adieu using Matisse’s torn paper technique to design a beach scene, make a dinosaur mask and craft a puppet.
