Missouri City, Sugar Land and Rosenberg on list of 50 safest in Texas

Three cities in Fort Bend County are on a recently released list of the 50 safest in Texas, according to SafeWise, a home security industry company based in Utah. The company provides services as an independent resource on community safety, reviews on security providers, research on community public safety initiatives and tips and tools to help individuals make homes and communities safer.

With a number 20 ranking for Missouri City, 22 for Sugar Land, and 29 for Rosenberg, these cities were selected based on paired data from the most recent FBI Crime in the U.S. along with research by SafeWise for the findings of the safest cities in Texas with 20,000 residents or more as of 2011. Reportedly as of the 2010 census, there were 132 cities in Texas with populations over 20,000.

The top two cities in the number one and two spots, Colleyville and Elm, are in the outskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Ten Houston suburban areas in Harris, Galveston and Walker Counties made list of 50, including the Fort Bend cities. Friendswood, which lies in both Harris and Galveston Counties, is the only one than ranked in the top 10 with a number 3 rating.

The other metro area cities on the list of 50 include Pearland, 24; La Porte, 25; Lake Jackson 27; League City (Galveston County), 31; Deer Park, 36; and Huntsville (Walker County), 44.

In statements released by the City of Rosenberg, Mayor Vincent M. Morales, Jr. said, “This accolade brings attention to Rosenberg, and the phenomenal quality of life provided our residents and businesses.

It is exciting to see outside groups acknowledge and recognize the things that make Rosenberg so special.”

SafeWise’s promotion of the safe cities relates to the marketing potential of relocation areas, “finding your family a city with a low crime rate” as a priority.
